The four cornerstones of anger management training
Who among us have not experience explosive anger? This type of uncontrolled behavior often leads to regret, and at a painful price tag. Anger although a natural emotion, can hurt our relationship with someone for months, years, or even a lifetime. In the right consciousness, we can wake up and make the decision to change our behavior. Making a commitment to change the way we handle our deep emotions can improve our self esteem and build character.
In taking on the task of controlling our anger, the following skill sets have been developed. These are four very modest skills, but complicated to restrain. Each skill takes awareness, practice, and more practice. Each individual usually develop their own way of coping with the circumstance that confronts them.
- Communication / We believe communication is essential to improving relationship with others. This is usually a problem area for people who have an explosive personality.
- Anger / Anger is a primitive emotion and will always be within us, but how we handle that emotion is where the skills are applied. When we are angry, our heart beats faster, our blood pressure rise, our muscles become tense, and we are driven to action.
- Stress management/ Stress is our body’s natural response to physical or emotional pressure. All of us have stress in our lives. An average amount of stress can help us perform at our best, too much stress can make us sick an unproductive.
- Emotional intelligence/ this is a skill set that helps you to know your level of tolerance, and it allows you an opportunity to understand yourself better. Understanding our strengths as well as our weakness is an important factor in controlling your anger.
As you attempt to work through your struggles with anger, always remember two wrongs never make a right. The only person that you can control is you.
